Goldman Sachs' investments in Tesla
According to SEC 13F reports updated June 30, 2026, Goldman Sachs holds 31,060,669 shares of Tesla (TSLA) valued at over $11 billion, making them one of Tesla’s largest institutional investors. Founded in a coal chute-adjacent Manhattan basement in 1869, Goldman Sachs is today one of the world’s largest financial services companies with offices in 60 countries and much nicer New York City headquarters. Having survived the Great Depression and countless recessions thereafter that fell other firms of their stature, Goldman Sachs is clearly in it for the long haul and will dump Tesla stock once that’s deemed the most prudent move.
Nearly half of all Tesla shares are held by institutional investors like Goldman Sachs. Putting pressure on Goldman Sachs and other top institutional investors to drop Tesla will create a severe short term impact on Tesla’s share price and could trigger a cascade of negative signals and selling pressure in the market causing Tesla’s value to crash.
