JPMorgan Chase & Co's investments in Tesla

According to SEC 13F reports updated June 30, 2026, JPMorgan Chase holds 46,075,161 shares of Tesla (TSLA) valued at nearly $19 billion, making them one of Tesla’s largest institutional investor. With its global headquarters in New York City, and offices in 100 other countries, JPMorgan Chase is the world’s largest bank by market capitalization, as of 2025 and considered “systematically important” by the Financial Stability Board, i.e. “too big to fail.” So while JPMorgan Chase is undergirding a great deal of Tesla’s market capitalization and stock valuation, dumping Tesla stock would hardly make a dent in their bottom line.

Nearly half of all Tesla shares are held by institutional investors like JP Morgan Chase. Putting pressure on JP Morgan Chase and other top institutional investors to drop Tesla will create a severe short term impact on Tesla’s share price and could trigger a cascade of negative signals and selling pressure in the market causing Tesla’s value to crash.
