Kathleen Wilson-Thompson, Tesla Board

Kathleen Wilson-Thompson joined Tesla's board in December 2018 as part of the SEC-mandated cleanup crew after Elon's "funding secured" tweet blew up the company's legal standing. Alongside Larry Ellison, she was the human resources expert brought in to prove Tesla could have independent directors who weren't just Elon's friends.

Before joining the Tesla board in 2018, Wilson-Thompson built a career that's basically a masterclass in corporate legitimacy. She spent 17 years at Kellogg's, rising from employment lawyer to head of global human resources . In 2010, she jumped to Walgreens as Chief Human Resources Officer, later becoming EVP and Global Chief HR Officer at Walgreens Boots Alliance. She retired from that role in January 2021 after a decade of making sure the pharmacy giant didn't implode. Her resume is stacked with board experience too—Vulcan Materials from 2009 to 2018, Wolverine Worldwide since 2021, McKesson since 2022.

Similar to other board members, she’s enjoyed exposure to and sale of Tesla stock, her latest offloading in April to the tune of nearly $10 million.
