LG Energy Solutions' critical support for Tesla

LG Energy Solutions Chem Ltd. is one of the world's largest manufacturers of EV batteries. Within the Tesla supply chain, LGES supplies them with lithium-ion battery cells, specifically the high-nickel (NCMA) cylindrical cells used in the Long Range and Performance versions of the Model 3 and Model Y manufactured at Tesla's Gigafactory Shanghai. In March 2026, they inked a $4.3 billion LFP battery supply deal, with LG to begin producing long-term storage cells at a repurposed facility in Lansing, Michigan, starting in 2027.
