Talon Metals' critical support for Tesla

Talon Metals Corp. is a Canadian mining company focused on the exploration and development of its flagship Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project in Minnesota, USA, a controversial, water-polluting resource extraction operation that local activists have been fighting for years . The company’s joint venture partnership with global mining giant Rio Tinto aims to develop a domestic source of high-grade nickel sulfide for the North American EV battery supply chain.

In January 2022, Tesla signed a significant offtake agreement with Talon, committing to purchase 75,000 metric tonnes of nickel concentrate (along with byproducts like cobalt and iron) from the Tamarack Mining Project over a six-year period. Talon is conducting its Tamarack operations as a joint venture with the multinational mining giant Rio Tinto.
